Nice to know MAN Diesel, is donating to the mercy ships foundation four brand new HFO Generator Sets for one of the world's largest Hospital ship, Africa mercy.
Mercy Ships is a non-profit organization aiming in helping people around the world who cannot afford very costly medical operations, it has gone into thousands of ports of call and have given relief to countless lives since its foundation.
The Augsburg-based manufacturer of large-bore diesel engines and turbomachinery MAN Diesel & Turbo is supplying the charitable organisation Mercy Ships International with four new 5L21/31 type on-board power generators for a hospital ship. The “Africa Mercy” is the world’s largest civilian hospital ship and provides free medical care in African coastal areas to those who otherwise couldn’t afford it. Thus MAN Diesel & Turbo grants a donation of around €350,000 for the benefit of the organisation.
The New generators are more compliant for the recent MARPOL standards and especially to Annex 6 legislations on Marine Air Pollution. The power plant transplant will be held this September of 2010. Each MAN Diesel Generators give out a maximum power output 1000kw each meaning it will be capable of supplying the Africa Mercy with 3000kw of Power.
